About Coach

Originally from Ireland, Coach Aaron discovered CrossFit when he made the move to Australia in 2018. It didn’t take long for him to fall in love with the sport, and by 2019, he was already coaching and sharing his newfound passion with others. Aaron's journey into fitness has been shaped by his diverse background and strong commitment to both personal growth and helping others reach their potential.

As a co-owner of CrossFit Project Bayside alongside Aimee, Aaron is deeply invested in creating a gym culture that emphasizes community, progress, and inclusivity. His approach to coaching is grounded in supporting each individual, from beginners to seasoned athletes, by focusing on proper technique, consistent effort, and personal empowerment.

In addition to his work at the gym, Aaron works for a leading interior design company in Melbourne, balancing his career with his passion for CrossFit. This unique blend of creativity and structure informs his coaching style, where he integrates attention to detail, precision, and adaptability into his sessions. Whether it’s coaching clients on their lifts or helping them perfect their movement patterns, Aaron’s eye for detail and dedication to improvement ensures that each individual has the tools to succeed.

Outside the gym, Aaron is a car enthusiast with a particular passion for motorsports, especially drifting. He loves the thrill of speed and the challenge of mastering precision in high-intensity situations, much like the mentality he brings to his coaching. His enthusiasm for motorsports reflects his broader approach to life—always striving for excellence, focus, and pushing past limits.

Fun fact: Aaron once starred as an extra in the HBO hit show Game of Thrones— a claim to fame that never fails to add a fun twist to his bio! It’s a reminder that no matter how serious the goals, life should always have a bit of adventure.

Turning Point

When Aaron first stepped into a CrossFit gym in 2018, he was confronted with a harsh reality: he was far less fit than he had imagined. Having grown up surrounded by traditional “globo gyms” and a culture focused on lifting weights and building muscle, Aaron thought he was living the healthy lifestyle. After all, pumping iron and hitting the gym regularly seemed like the formula for good health. But his very first CrossFit trial session left him feeling alarmed at just how unfit he truly was. The intensity, the variety of movements, and the overall functional demands of CrossFit challenged him in ways he had never experienced.

That moment, however, became the catalyst for his transformation. Rather than feeling defeated, Aaron became deeply inspired by the coach who guided him through that first session—Peter, a mentor who would later play a pivotal role in Aaron’s development as both an athlete and a coach. Peter’s approach to CrossFit wasn’t about chasing maximum lifts or showing off muscle-ups; it was about longevity, functionality, and a holistic approach to health. This perspective resonated with Aaron, especially as he began to see CrossFit not just as a way to get stronger, but as a way to live a better, more sustainable life.

Through Peter’s mentorship, Aaron learned that true fitness isn’t about the flashy movements or lifting the heaviest weights—it’s about building a foundation that supports long-term health and well-being. His focus shifted from the pursuit of muscle-ups or PRs to ensuring that he would have the physical capability to outwork his children in any game or adventure as they grew up. For Aaron, the ultimate goal became clear: he wanted to be the kind of father who could keep up with his kids—whether that meant playing soccer in the yard, hiking up a mountain, or just staying active as a family.

This turning point in his own fitness journey not only changed the way Aaron approached his training but also shaped his coaching philosophy. He realized that longevity was the key to health, and it was about more than just building muscle—it was about building a body that could thrive well into old age.

Motivation & Passion

For Coach Aaron, the magic of fitness lies in effort, hard work, and fun. He firmly believes that the best results come when you give your all—when you push past your limits, embrace the challenge, and truly commit to the process. Aaron’s coaching philosophy is simple: to see progress, you have to be all in, and that means giving everything you’ve got, every single session.

Aaron knows that intensity is where the magic happens. Whether it’s a grueling MetCon, a heavy lifting session, or a skill-based workout, he’s all about creating an environment where his athletes understand the effort required to reach their goals. For Aaron, it’s not about being perfect—it’s about putting in the work and being consistent. Every rep, every set, every breath is an opportunity to get stronger, better, and more resilient. He’s there to guide, push, and motivate, but the key ingredient is always the athlete’s commitment to giving their best.

But what really sets Aaron apart as a coach is his ability to make hard work fun. He’s not just about intensity for intensity’s sake; he’s about bringing energy, excitement, and a sense of enjoyment to each session. Aaron believes that fitness should be something you look forward to, not something you dread. Whether it's cracking a joke, celebrating a small victory, or creating a supportive, high-energy atmosphere, Aaron knows that when you have fun in the process, the work doesn’t feel like work—it feels like progress. And that’s when the real results happen.
